Welcome to our journey through the Book of Daniel!
— Read: Daniel 6 —
Whenever we think of Daniel in the Bible, we think of the lion’s den. God closed the mouths of the lions to save Daniel’s life.
But the part of Chapter 6 that stood out to me the most was what the satraps said to the king regarding Daniel:
“Then they answered and said before the king, ‘Daniel, who is one of the exiles from Judah, pays no attention to you, O king, or the injunction you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day.'”
One of the exiles from Judah.
Never mind that the king — and everyone else — knew that Daniel had “an extraordinary spirit.”
Never mind that everyone in the kingdom knew that Daniel was without fault or corruption.
Never mind that his entire life had been spent in service, speaking wisdom and truth.
The satraps were jealous that the king saw Daniel as wiser and more trustworthy.
So they sought to get rid of him. Their plan, of course, backfired in the worst way. The fate they wanted for Daniel ended up being their own fate — not only for themselves, but also for their families!
So whenever someone tries to remind you of your past…
Or whenever your own thoughts turn back to your past…
Remember…Daniel was not just “one of the exiles from Judah.” He was divinely placed exactly where he was, to serve exactly as he had.
You are not your past either. Whatever your past may be, God can use it to bring you where he wants you to be.
Because that’s the kind of God we serve. A God who loves to redeem.

replace it with a new name…You are his Beloved.
