Welcome to our online Bible study on Luke!
Read: Luke 6:1-26
Have you ever wondered what Jesus and His Father talked about when they got together and prayed?
- Did Jesus tell His Father stories about what living on earth was like?
- Did they talk about what was going on in heaven while Jesus was away?
- Did Jesus ask for advice on whom to select as His disciples?
I’m only speculating here of course. But we know they communicated with each other in this beautiful way called prayer. And if Jesus thought it was important enough to go away to a mountain and pray, then maybe I should be doing something similar.
I don’t live near a mountain, but there’s a park in my backyard. I could spend time there under the apple blossoms, seeking His heart.
I can’t pray all night. I would inevitably fall asleep at some point, or my mind would wander off on an idea for an essay I’m writing.
But I can tell my Father stories about what living on earth is like. I can talk about coming and seeing Him in heaven some day. I can plead with Him over the aches and pains of my life. I can ask advice on friendships and family issues.
Praying — whether all night, or for a short period of time — whether on a mountain, or under a tree — is such a cool way of talking with God.
